Cookie policy
Last updated: 30 October 2026
This policy explains the cookies and similar browser storage that eatranslations.co.uk uses. The short version: our public pages set no cookies, and we use no analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind.
1. What cookies and browser storage are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Websites can also store small pieces of information in your browser in other ways, such as “local storage”. The law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) treats both the same way: a website needs your consent unless the storage is strictly necessary for a service you asked for, or falls within another exception the law allows, such as remembering how you want the site to look.
2. What we use
Everything below is either strictly necessary for something you asked to do, or remembers a choice you made. That is why we do not ask for consent and you will not see a consent banner. We show a short notice that links to this page.
Order form
- Name: wp_woocommerce_session_ followed by a random code
- Set by: our website (WooCommerce)
- Why: only set if a page has to show you something after you send it: the order form again, for example to point out a field you need to fix so that what you already entered is not lost, the confirmation that your request has arrived, or a message on the quote page
- How long: about 48 hours
Payment page
When you pay on our payment page, after you accept our quote, the secure card payment form provided by Stripe sets these cookies to prevent fraud and keep payments secure. Stripe sets the same cookies if we send you a separate Stripe payment link for a difference in price.
- __stripe_mid: fraud prevention, kept for 1 year
- __stripe_sid: fraud prevention, kept for 30 minutes
Stripe is responsible for these cookies. See Stripe’s cookie policy.
Your choices on this site (local storage, not cookies)
- eat-theme: remembers whether you chose light or dark mode
- eat-a11y: remembers your settings in the accessibility menu, such as text size or high contrast
- eat-cookie-ok: remembers that you closed the cookie notice, so we do not show it again
These are only saved when you make the choice. They stay in your browser until you change them or clear your browser data. They are never sent to us.
Site staff only
WordPress sets login cookies for the people who manage the website, and a test cookie called wordpress_test_cookie on the login page. Visitors and customers do not use the login page, so these are not set for you.
3. How to control them
- To reset your light or dark mode or accessibility settings, change them in the site menu, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block these Stripe cookies, you may not be able to pay.
4. Changes
If we ever add cookies that are not strictly necessary, such as analytics, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.
